Paula Betancourt Castaño

Paula Betancourt Castaño is a lawyer and political scientist from the University of the Andes and a specialist in Commercial Law from the Pontifical Javeriana University. She currently practices in private as a partner at HB Legal, specializing in corporate insolvency and corporate law. Up until January 2022, she served as an Advisor to the Superintendent of Companies on issues of corporate insolvency and as an Ad Hoc Delegate Superintendent for Insolvency Procedures. She was also part of the advisory team that structured the reforms to the insolvency regime in the context of the pandemic caused by Covid-19, which concluded in the issuance of Legislative Decree 560 of 2020, Legislative Decree 772 of 2020, and their regulatory decrees. She is a professor at the University of the Andes and coordinator of the Insolvency Regime Professionals Program. She serves as a guest lecturer at Rosario University, Pontifical Javeriana University Bogotá and Cali, as well as the Chamber of Commerce of Bogotá, Cali, and Manizales.
